The sequel to Chasing Butterflies, Chasing Romance
The delicate balance of an early relationship. Chase with a net and she will fly. Entice with trust and she may light on your finger.
She was close to my finger in Cape May. I sensed some distance at the B&B in PA. Come Christmas it was time for her to go to China until February.
She invited me to meet her in San Francisco as a layover when coming home. …
She taught me how to live and taught me how to die
“When I die and am waiting to get into heaven, I will mention to Saint Peter that I know Mary Ann and that will get me right in”, Betty Ann Byerly
Ms. Byerly is a relative by marriage and her comment upon the passing of Mom is representative of the people she Blessed with her time here.
Every time I began to miss her, I remember another precious moment of her love.
A singular representation of her impact on me.
The mark of a truly selfless individual is…
The butterfly––fetchingly beautiful, delicate, elusive.
Some chase butterflies with a net. Advantage to the chaser. How about attempting to have it land on your finger. Partner with it. Have it trust you. It may happen. Patience, extreme patience and the butterfly may or may not be yours.
I am chasing romance. Chasing as I would pursue the butterfly. No net; I do not want to damage her delicacy. I want her to trust me completely. Only then will romance happen.
Maybe someday soon. …
The once was and gentler time when your local bank was on the corner. You could walk to it, your knew the bank manager by name and the bank could not expand beyond the border of your state.
They had your checking account, savings, and something called a “Christmas Club” and they would lend you money for your car and your house.
A pearl is a gem. The product of an oyster or a shelled mollusk according to Wikipedia. As with all gems each is unique; exquisite.
I now see pearl in a whole new light.
Her name is Pearl. She, like her chosen name, is exquisite.
I have only begun to discover the beauty of this gem. Gemologists can examine and assess the value of these precious stones.
I carefully and gently will study this Pearl.
The stones have flaws and imperfections. I haven’t noticed any yet. Probably because I am smitten. I see her through the eyes of new attraction…

“England swings like a pendulum do”, Roger Miller
The swing and the pendulum, or the swing as the pendulum. Swinging freely is a gleeful memory of almost everyone.
Be careful though, swinging too high is dangerous.
There are mood swings, economic swings and political swings.
Mood swings are part of human nature. Love and heartbreak, satisfaction and disappointment, elation and sorrow are part of life. We learn, experience and grow, but extremes are described as bi-polar or manic depressive.
Economic swings are part of a free market systems.
Economic extremes led to The Great…
I spend most of everyday with me. Check that, I spend all of everyday with me since I have yet to have an out of body experience.
Maybe it will come on That Day which I hope is still 30 years down the road.
Okay, back to me since I am my constant companion and if I can’t live with me, than why would anyone else want to?
I like me.
There was a time not too long ago when I didn’t like me much. I was selfish and had to decide whether to stay in a loveless marriage or…

The Wawa Phenomenon
The convenience store is called Wawa. They are not a franchise. From what I know they are a family owned business so I don’t know how successful they are, but based new store construction, they must be doing great.
Their secret sauce?
Every time, no matter what time day or night (they’re open 24 hours) I get a warm greeting. “Hello sir, how are you?” At the gas pump, since in New Jersey you can’t pump you’re own gas, “what can I get your sir?”
Then, wait for it…
“Have a nice day!”
