A Bad Sitcom

America needs an “as told to”

The plotline used in every sitcom is that an event takes place. Then, Conflicting parties tell their side of the story, usually to the hilarity of a laugh track. Resolution comes when the, as told to party, recognizes the truth of the matter.

It is 2023 and our country is smack in the middle of a national sitcom.

Sadly, no one is laughing.

Our national sitcom contains daily events that are recounted by Democrats and Republicans, which are the factual terms to describe the conflicting parties. They are not “the radical left” or “the hard right”. Respectfully stated, they “spin” them.

The comedic value of exaggeration is lost, replaced by real threats of violence from both sides. The comedic sitcom in the dual recounting of events is, there is an element of truth for both sides.

The casualty of our national sitcom is there is no element of truth.

A business mentor once told me, “No one ever lies; they tell half-truths”. That made sense to me. Cherry pick statistics to make your argument for Mickey Mantle versus Willie Mays.

Half-truths do not exist in the national sitcom. Personal attacks on people do, verbal and physical.

This public lack of respect for our fellow Americans damages the United States in the eyes of the World. Worse is the damage done to the nation’s population’s respect and confidence in our elected officials.

The “as told to” needs to be found to end the national sitcom.

Note: I am a proud independent American who desperately wants to vote for the “as told to” candidate.
