The Babe is Back!
There is an aura in Yankee Stadium. The ghosts of baseball haunt the place, especially in October (and once in November) where 27 times this baseball team was crowned World Champions. As of today the Yankees just went up three games to two against the Huston Astros in the American League Championship Series. One more win and it is on to the World Series in the quest for number 28.
SPIRITS AND LEGENDS
Baseball is a statisticians dream but more so a source of era related comparisons that are debated endlessly in pubs, bars, backyard barbecues and beginning in the late 20th century, talk radio. This is not meant to further any of the debates or to create another top ten list, but offer an alternative theory to the Yankee history.
What if there is more at play than just good fortune? What if there is a metaphysical connection based on reincarnation? Maybe it’s in the water. Maybe it is a winning culture. Or, maybe just maybe, the heroes of bygone years live and breathe in the bodies of the subsequent generations of ballplayers the come to the Bronx.
Lou Gehrig to Don Mattingly? The Scooter to Jeter? Dickey to Berra to Howard to Munson to Posada?
Generations have watched and cheered. Ghosts have haunted opposing teams. Miracles have happened and if there is any credibility to reincarnation, Babe Ruth is back!
They call him Aaron Judge.
